Not at all. Reaching out for help shows strength and self-awareness. People who seek therapy recognize when they need support and are brave enough to ask for it. While you may have managed on your own before, sometimes challenges feel overwhelming and hard to tackle alone. Therapy can help you reconnect with your inner strengths and teach you new strategies to manage what you're facing now.
While friends and family care about you, a mental health professional brings specialized training and experience to help you in a way others may not. A therapist can offer new perspectives, teach you coping skills, and listen without judgment or expectations. Therapy is also confidential, so you won’t have to worry about anyone else knowing your personal business. Unlike confiding in a friend or family member, therapy won’t risk complicating your relationships—allowing you to heal without added concerns.
Medication can help manage symptoms, but it doesn’t address the underlying issues. Therapy dives deeper to explore the root causes of your struggles and helps you develop tools to work through them. In some cases, medication combined with therapy can be beneficial, but therapy plays a key role in lasting personal growth and change that medication alone can't provide.
Therapy is tailored to your unique needs, so each person's experience will differ. Our approach is flexible and adapted to your goals, challenges, and preferences. In sessions, we’ll work together to explore your concerns, identify patterns, and find practical strategies for change.
There’s no set timeline for therapy because each person’s situation is different. The length of therapy depends on your goals, your commitment to personal growth, and the specific challenges you’re addressing. We’ll work together at a pace that feels right for you.
To maximize your therapy experience, your commitment and active participation are key. The real growth happens outside of our sessions, in how you apply what we discuss to your daily life. The more you engage with the process and reflect on your progress, the more meaningful and lasting your results will be.
If you're both interested in improving your relationship, we would begin with joint sessions. This way, we can work on the relationship as a whole. If, later on, one of you would like to continue with individual counseling, we can do that too. However, it’s usually not effective to move from individual therapy into couples’ work with the same therapist due to potential trust and confidentiality concerns.
